Herts Visual Arts 2018 Big Art Showcase At The New Maynard Gallery

20/04/2018 - 02/06/2018

Following from last year’s successful exhibition, Herts Visual Arts are again staging their Big Art Showcase at the New Maynard Gallery to mark the start of their 2018 arts programme.  With more than 50 members taking part, the rich variety of 2D and 3D art also includes work by previous New Maynard Gallery Open Exhibition winners Sarah Poppleton (painter) and ceramicist Elspeth Keith.

Artists and visitors alike will also be warmly welcomed by gallery trustees and volunteers for a packed and lively Private View evening on 19th April 2018. A huge breadth of techniques and subject matter across the Showcase includes paintings, prints, textiles, glass, drawing, ceramics, jewellery and much more filling the walls and cabinets with a wealth of colour and style.

Running from 20th April until 2rd June, the exhibition is open for visitors throughout the week. All work is for sale. Herts Visual Arts members are all artists who live or work in Hertfordshire.

“This year I would again like to personally like to thank the New Maynard Gallery Trustees and volunteers for welcoming Herts Visual Arts into this amazing space” said Herts Visual Arts Chair, Hillary Taylor, who continued “We know our Big Art Showcase will be set out with professionalism, care and skill, showing our members work off to its very best.”

Summer Exhibition

27/07/2013 - 28/07/2013

Most people have heard of the Summer Exhibition that takes place at the Royal Academy in London each year from early June to mid-August. This year Herts Visual Arts (HVA)  hosted Hertfordshire's own local version in Harpenden.

Mel Hilbrown, HVA Chairman, said, “This is the second year we are exhibiting at Harpenden Public Halls. It’s a great venue for what promises to be an inspiring exhibition. In the adjacent room the Beds Bucks and Herts Print Society are exhibiting hand pulled prints. The venue is right by the Farmer’s Market that Sunday. So visitors can really make a day of it!”

Some of the artists featuring in the HVA Summer Exhibition will also take part in Herts Open Studios – county-wide – 7-29 September. For those who don’t know, Open Studios is when many HVA member artists open the doors of their homes or studios to show exhibitions of their own work. It’s an opportunity for people to see local Hertfordshire artists in the environments where they create - and buy direct from them too.

Linda Warminger, HVA Open Studios Project Manager says, “This event provides a really unique insight into the wealth of creative talent in Hertfordshire. All artists are happy to talk about their work and how they approach it. Many will be demonstrating their skills. It’s fascinating, free and a fun thing to do.”
